We consider ourselves truly fortunate to have an excellent group of devoted and professional teachers at Mel-O-Dee Montessori. Each classroom's head teacher holds a certified Montessori teaching credential, and many of our teaching assistants have several years of experience in a Montessori classroom. Several of our teachers have been with Mel-O-Dee for over 25 years, providing our school with the experience and knowledge essential for a well-run, Montessori program.
The guidance our teachers provide to each child as they are introduced to the Montessori materials is essential for building the confidence required to master the various subjects. Throughout the day, the teachers encourage the children to question and explore as they work with the different materials in the classroom. As a child's comfort and competence in a particular area increases, the teacher directs the child to more advanced materials that are better suited to that child's level of understanding.
Our teachers often find it appropriate to introduce new material during small or large-group sessions with multiple children participating. The advantage of this type of format is that the children have the opportunity to ask questions and to listen to each other's questions, as well as to share insights and participate together in an informal, positive setting directed by their teacher.
Conferences
We recognize parents and guardians as the child's first teachers, and encourage active participation in each child's education through parent-teacher conferences and class observations.
